Protests In India After Gang Rape
Protests in many Indian cities escalated this week after a victim of a gang rape died of her injuries on Saturday. The 23-year-old medical student and her male companion were attacked on a bus in Delhi on December 16th. After the attack the couple was thrown off the moving bus onto the street. The woman was rushed to a hospital in Singapore, but doctors were unable to save her life. Six men have been arrested and are now being charged with rape and murder. The protesters want the government to do more to protect women from violence. They are demanding swift action in sexual assault cases and better policing at night.
