Hundreds Die In Brazil Nightclub Fire
A fire broke out at a nightclub in Santa Maria, Brazil early Sunday morning during a concert. Witnesses say that the band’s pyrotechnic show went wrong and caused the blaze. At least 231 people died in the fire at the Kiss nightclub. Some died from smoke inhalation while others were trampled to death as people panicked to find an exit. Many of the concertgoers were university students enjoying their last week of summer break. Up to 3000 people visit this popular nightclub on the weekends. Families gathered at a nearby gym to identify victims. An owner of the nightclub, and two of the band members have been arrested.
