ESL Channels on YouTube

YouTubeDo you use YouTube in the classroom? Do you assign YouTube for homework? Do you make YouTube quizzes?

Many English teachers are using YouTube in a variety of ways. Some use YouTube to reinforce pronunciation and grammar, while others use it to lighten up the classroom. Here are some popular ESL YouTube channels:

Jennifer’s ESL
The Daily English Show
Duncan in China
English Meeting
Bizpod
ESL Joan
Interesting Things ESL
Learn American English
Private English Portal

EnglishClub.com now has a YouTube channel. Stay tuned for new videos coming soon. http://www.youtube.com/user/englishclub

YouTube videos alone are great for starting a discussion, or reviewing a grammar point. You can also assign YouTube videos for homework. However, if you want to check comprehension, you may want to quiz your students on the videos. You can create your own online quizzes to go along with the YouTube videos you assign using either of these websites. Provide your students with the URL to the quiz.:

www.eslvideo.com
www.lingtlanguage.com (Students can record their answers using a microphone.)

What’s your favourite YouTube video?
Of course, YouTube videos in general can be useful in teaching English. If you have a favourite YouTube video that you use in the classroom, share it in the comment section.

Teachers: I just came across this video collection via Twitter: http://www.watchknow.org/

From the website: “WatchKnow is both a resource for users and also a non-profit, online community that encourages everyone to collect, create, and share free, innovative, educational videos.”
