Writing Prompt ~ Used To

Writing Prompt: The expressions “be/get used to” and “used to do” cause difficulties for English learners. Review the basic structures of “be used to” and “used to do”. Then write a paragraph about traffic or road conditions. Use “be used to” (accustomed to) and “used to do” (past habits or activities) in your paragraph.

I am used to driving in Canada

My dad used to drive on the highway a lot. He was used to traffic. He used to leave at 6am and return home at 6pm. It used to take him almost two hours each way. I am not used to this kind of traffic. I live in a small town. I’m used to two-lane highways, not 16-lane highways! I used to live in a big city in the UK, but I couldn’t get used to the loud noise and traffic. Because I am used to driving on the right side of the road, I found it difficult to drive in England. I didn’t use to drive on the highways there unless I had to! I don’t think Canadians ever get used to driving on the left side. Are you used to driving on the left or the right?

  I think I would never get used to driving on the right, because ever since I learned when I was young, I used to drive on the right. I also remember an experience of some friends who tried to drive on the other side in another country and it was impossible for them. Although I think that since I am used to driving slowly I could learn.

  My friend used to drive to work. He used to drive down dangerous street, until one day he parked on an unfamiliar street and someone stole his car. Now he used to drive only on busy roads.

  I am used to find a lot traffic in the morning when I go to my job.Sometimes stucking in the traffic is very common in my mornings and this causes that many times I come running to work so that I am not late. Even though I used to leave home on time, I always find traffic. Live in the CDMX is very complicated because used to be a lot of trafic every day.

  I am very sad because last week my friends had a party and I couldn´t go because I was studying. I use to work in the whole week and I used to study on Saturdays. The party was on Friday and I couldn´t go because I had to study early next day. They know that I used to go to each party they invite me but for now there are priorities. I know that I will have another chance but for now I am going to study hard and working hard too.

  I was not used to drive a lot, but nowadays stucking in the traffic is my daily routine. Well, I am getting used to drive that much now and I enjoy it, because in the past I used to commute a lot, now hate it.

  I am used to drive on the left because in my country we all are used to it. Even when I am left handed, I had to get used to manage the gear shift with my right hand.
  Because of the traffic in my city, I am used to drive slowly but I would prefet to drive faster.
  I don’t think I can get used to deal with traffic jams, but driving is the safest way to get job. Otherwise I would have to take the bus, but I would have to deal with the traffic anyway.

  I am used to drive a lot in the traffic. So stucking in the traffic is so habitual for me in my commuting days. i used to got afraid in the the buzzling of the vehicles during my earlier job days. Although I used to drive very, I used to travel through public transport. But after some time, I am used to getting up early because of this habit I am used to driving from my home to working place and vice versa.

  My dad likes jeep cars very much. He used to use a jeep car every day. My town has a difficult road so it makes my dad more engage to collect jeep cars. He was used to modifying the jeep car. His life is all about jeep!
