Writing Prompt ~ First Conditional

Posted by: Tara Benwell Writing Prompt

Writing Prompt: The first conditional is used to talk or write about real possibilities in the future. Review the rules for using first conditionals. Then pretend you are a parent who wants his or her kids to be behave for their grandparents on the weekend. Write a note to your kids. Offer some bribes for good behaviour.

Example

Dear Lucy and Charlie,
Be good for your grandparents this weekend. If you are good, we will buy you some presents. Don’t forget to brush your teeth. If you don’t brush your teeth, Daddy and I will eat the candy. You know how I love chocolate. If it rains tomorrow, Grandma and Grandpa will take you to a movie. Grandma won’t take you to a movie if you don’t eat your dinner. If you eat your vegetables, Grandpa will buy you popcorn at the movie. If you are good this weekend, you can have a sleepover with your cousins next weekend. Call us if you need us. If you call the hotel, they will give you our room number.
Love Mom and Dad
