Electronic Devices Must Be Charged To Fly To US
New airport security measures require passengers on US-bound flights their mobile devices and laptops before going through security. Uncharged devices at many airports will not be permitted on board. The heightened security is related to new Al-Qaeda threats. In cases where time permits, passengers with dead phones or computers will be offered a chance to charge their devices before boarding for their flight. Passengers who do not have the time or ability to charge their devices before boarding may be permitted to their flights. Some airports will offer special services for passengers who want to send their devices to a specific address.

  1. What must passengers do before going through security on US-bound flights?
  2. What is the cause for the heightened security?
  3. Why does the report mention postal services?

Discussion Question: Have we become a paranoid society, or do you think these security measures are necessary to ensure the safety of airline travellers?
