France Launches Terror Alert App

Pre-Listening Vocabulary

  • venue: a building or space where a show or event takes place
  • alert (noun): the state of being cautious and watchful
  • alert (verb): to warn of something
  • geo-location: a wireless detection of a physical location

France Launches Terror Alert App

The French government has a mobile app (SAIP) to alert its people of terror attacks in their area. With the Euro 2016 football set to begin on Friday, sports venues and hubs are under high alert. The app runs on iOS and Android . Users must have geo-location turned on receive the notifications. Future releases of the app will also be used to alert users of other and dangers including natural disasters.
